Music Reflection

This term we have been doing music in room 10. For music we are doing rubbish bin drumming. I have learnt about different notes and beats I have also learnt to play the drums and different beats on rubbish bins. I have enjoyed working with others in my class. I am interested in learning more about drumming. I need to improve in doing two things at the same time because I get a bit mixed up when I drum with two different things going on.

$20, $50 and $100 New Zeland bank notes are out!

A couple of months after the launching the brand new $5 and $10 notes, the $20, $50 and $100 notes launched out  on Monday 11 of April by the Governor General at a special event at the Government House in Wellington.  The new notes are brighter colours and have larger print. The notes now have updated security features to make it harder to counterfeit our notes, but easier for you to check them. You can still use the old notes, but they will be gradually be phased out. Approximately 345,000 of the new Series 7 banknotes have been dispatched to banks to meet their orders. This compares with about 45,000,000 Series 6 $5 and $10 notes currently in circulation.

My Opinion:

I think that is is so cool how they have finally launched out the new notes. I like them lots better than the other notes because the colours are much better they are brighter and the birds are a bit different on them.

Easter

Ahhhhh a chocolate filled morning. My room is full of chocolate, end to end... Suddenly I wake up. There is no chocolate in my room, except for the marshmallow eggs from last night. I am so disappointed. Nobody is awake yet so I go and sit down on the couch and watch t.v. A few hours later we are off on our trip to Hahei.  Soon enough we were at Hahei, everybody leaves me at the car to grab Dad’s, Mum’s and my bag. We go upstairs to have some lunch. CHEEEEESE sandwiches, and after Nana brings through three boxes. One for me, one for Ben and one for Xavier. Mine had a white chocolate egg with milk bottles and little eggs inside. I ate some Lindt chocolate eggs and a really big caramello egg too.

Once we have all finished our lunch we head down to the beach. I take my surfboard and a towel. We meet Lara and Chris down at the beach. Xavier, Ben and I decide to swim out to the boy, we do and then we come back. This time, we go out to a boat trailer and I jump off of the trailer. We have a half hour break and then I ask everyone if they would like to swim out to the boy with me, Dad, Ethan and Ben say yes. We swim out to the boy and Dad suggests that we swim out to one that is even further out, we all say YES. After, we all come back in and have some of Lara's cookies. About an hour later we go back tot he house and just chill. I have a shower, get changed and go upstairs. I get some chips out of the cupboard and eat them. We end up having lamb chops and sausages for dinner.

The next day we go down to the beach and there are HUGE waves we go down really early about 10 o'clock. I surf heaps of waves and then Xavier and Ben come down with the old sea biscuit and Xavier brings it into the water and Ben Jumps into it. He actually rides the wave up to the beach without flipping. We do much more waves until we have had enough. Then we go back to the house have a shower and get ready to go back home. Since the traffic is so bad we decided to go down The 309 Road. It was a really bad road.

We stopped at the Coromandel Water Works on our trip down The 309 Road. We walk into the entrance and go to the first attraction a pond with a sign that says beware of the crocs. Guess what was in the pond? Crocs, the actual shoe crocs! There was another attraction near there and it was a long drop Ben was already over there so I went over He opened the door and I went in... the Dad closed the door and this clown farmer thing was laughing! It was so creepy. there were to that I really like it was the hamster wheel and the flying bikes. The hamster wheel was so fun even Dad came in with Me, Ben and Xavier. I also loved the flying bikes. The flying bikes was two bikes that are attached to two poles that are going out horizontally. You are ff of the ground it was so cool. You have to pedal to make the bikes fly I had great fun there. There were so many creations that had to do with water it was amazing, I really enjoyed my Easter.

Writing And Me

Goal Reflection

Goal: I can make positive choices that are right for my OWN learning.

Reflection:

I think that I have made positive choices for my learning. I tried my best to make choices that a right for my learning but at some points I didn't make the right choices and sat with people who distracted me. Throughout the three days, I have made my own choices to sit where I want to and do what work I wanted to. I made some good choices by going into the quiet zone to do my AWS and my IE research. I think that I could have done better to make my choices.

Individual Endeavour

Individual Endeavour

This year Marama is doing Individual Endeavours. Individual Endeavour is basically like a one person IMPACT. First we chose our topic and  planned whats specific piece of the topic that we were going to learn about and then we would see who we could contact, how we would share it and what we were going to create once we have finished our research.
At first I had no idea of what I was going to choose for my topic. I knew that I really like music so I chose that but... I needed to refine it so I chose a specific kind of music. Indonesian Music. Once we had got our idea we went back to the start. The teachers made us a generating ideas doc which had  these questions What are some of your current likes/loves?  How do you spend you time out of school? What are you curious about?  If you could learn more about anything, what would it be?  What do you wonder about? There was also a seek of approval doc which was where you put all of your questions, keywords, refined questions and what you plan to make, how you share it and who you will share it with. Now I will stop yabbering and talk about my IE! As you know I chose to do my IE on Indonesian music. Mrs Hull even has a sister that lives in Jakarta so i will have someone to contact Mrs Hull thinks that she might have some insight on Indonesian music!! I have planned and researched three of my questions so far. Those questions are;

  1. How does an pan flute work? How is musical sound created out of a pan flute?
  2. What was the first design of an Indonesian instrument? What was the first instrument?
  3. What is the most popular Indonesian song and what makes it so popular?

I have found out that the first instrument made was a flute it the ones that were found were made out of bird bones and mammoth ivory, they were found in a caves called The Swabian caves. They made them about 40,000 years ago. Early humans probably spent their late afternoon sitting around the fire playing bone flutes and singing songs 40,000 years ago, newly discovered ancient musical instruments the bone flutes push back the date researchers think human creativity evolved and when humans came upon earth. I have also found out that the most popular indonesian song ever is Iwan Fals - Yang Terlupakan ( The Forgotten ) This song was first released in 1981 since then it has been the most popular song in Indonesia. It has been named an eternal song. It has been popular since the 90s and one of the best songs from Iwan Fals. I also found out how pan flutes work here is my answer: When you blow across the open end of a panflute the closed end of the tube will vibrate at a pitch which will make the flute create a sound, If I cut make the tube size in half the sound will become higher pitched. The more that I take off of the bamboo the higher the sound will be. The pan flute sound is created by the vibration of an airstream that’s blowing across an open hole at one end of the tube. The length of the tube determines the frequency that the pan flute will make. I am planning to make a pan flute out of pipe, string, glue and tape, I have researched on how I am going to create it I even have a video that will show me!. I am also planning to do a slideshow (Emaze) to present what I have learnt I have this week and next week to complete my project I think that I have put in the time and the effort to have a good solid presentation. Have you learnt lots yet? I have! I am having a great time learning about Indonesian music/culture and I hope that I will be able to finish it on time!

3D Cat Armour

http://kiwikidsnews.co.nz/3d-cat-amour/

Do you ever feel like your cat might get hurt out catching prey or fighting your neighbor's cat? What you need is 3D cat armour! With a 3D printer and the internet you will have cat armour very soon. It was created by a company called Print that thing and the instructions have been uploaded to Thingiverse. The 3D cat armour created with a 3D printer, which will protect your cat from harm's way.

My opinion:

I think that this is a great idea! But it will only protect the top side of your cat not the underside of it, which will need to be changed.
