Hockey Big Day Out 2016!

Yesterday Ngatea Primary School had their Hockey Big Day Out! In my team there was Me, Sophie, Brooke, Alex, Hamish, Logan, Matthew and Osten. My whole team was so excited to play our four games throughout the day. I was in the team Ngatea Lions, we played amazing together we won all of our pool games but then it came down to the final to win all of the games that we have played. We were playing against Ngatea Jaguars, we were all set for our game waiting for the bell... RINGGG🔔 RINGGG🔔 we've started the game. I was in defence with Sophie and Hamish we were defending the goal so that it would either be a draw or we could win by a goal buuuuuuuut Liam just slipped the ball into the goal. The were some really big hits in our game. Liam got another goal but it wasn't counted. I was a rough battle for the win but unfortunately we didn't score a goal. So the win went to the Ngatea Jaguar's instead of the Ngatea Lions.

Tech Project

Every  Thursday at 10.30-12.30 we have tech at HPC for my first four weeks of trial tech I did fabrics with Mrs McCormack. At the start we got a booklet to learn how to thread up the machine and how to sew properly. Then we sewed on a piece of paper with no thread to make sure that we can sew straight lines, my lines were quite straight. Then we did our drivers licence which was the same but with corners, we started to use the sewing machines and took the drivers test for the sewing machines and sewed on a little piece of fabric to practice before we started making our pencil cases. I got my sewing drivers licence. Then we moved on to our designs for our pencil case. We had to chose the colour of the zip and the colour and kind of fabric that we want. For my pencil case I chose a turquoise zip and yellow fabric but we were only allowed to use the cotton fabric because that was the only fabric that was suitable for the sewing machines that we were using. On the last week we sewed on the zip and sewed the two pieces of fabric together, and the zig zag neatened the fabric so it wouldn't fray and cut of the extra threads and then we were finished.

Do you ever crave food that you don't have, but don't want to put your on pants and face the world? If you are from Hamilton here is your answer. There is a business that has just been created which is called Food Courier for the Hamilton citizens. If you want chocolate, sushi, pizza, a burger or a strawberry milk basically anything the Food Courier will get it for you, any food or beverage at you door in ten minutes. You can only get deliveries between midday and midnight.

My opinion:

I think that this is a bad idea because the more people who use it the more lazy that the Hamilton citizens will get, because they can just call someone up and get food instead of walking to the car, driving to the store and walking into the store. It means that they will use their legs a lot less which means they will become LAZY!

Leadership

This year, I have been chosen to be an House Leader, in the Arts team, School Ambassador team and one of The Book Nook monitors. At school we have four different houses Kapui, Orewa, Patiki and Weka I am the house leader of Orewa with Edell, what house leaders do is make the team do chants and cheer on the team. At the start of this year we made up a new chant here it is: What does Orewa do? WIN WIN WIN!! I can't hear you WIN WIN WIN!! Were going to throw you in the... BIN BIN BIN! I am also in the School ambassador team which means that when teachers come from other schools I either meet and greet them or I speak to the and tell them about our school. On Wednesday it was my first time being a School Ambassador and it was great fun I got to meet and greet them ( but none of them came to where we were standing, I got to listen to Mr Fraser, Mrs Hull and Morgan's speech I also got to show the teachers around our school so basically through all of our learning teams. Which was fun! I am also in the arts team but I all I can remember is that Emma is the leader!!

The Worlds Tallest Horse

There is a horse that is called Big Jake he is the worlds tallest horse. He is a 11-year-old Belgian gelding. He is 20 hands and 2 and 3/4 inches. He weighs 1.2 tonnes. Everything that Big Jake eats is absolutely huge! Big Jake eat and drinks 1 and a 1/2 hay bales and 40 quarts of oats a day. When he is transported his owners need to use a semi trailer. BIG JAKE IS COLOSSAL! 

My opinions:
He is a very big horse and I think that it would be very hard to ride a horse that is that big, I also think that the paddock that he is in would have to have very tall fences.

My wonderings:
I wonder what breed the horse is and how big it was when it was little.

School, HP, TV Swimming Sports

This year I managed to participate in School, Hauraki and Thames Valley swimming sports. I entered into all of the events in the school swimming sports, and I had a fantastic day. I got into all of them for Hauraki Plains but I decided to drop the 1 length backstroke, freestyle and breaststroke. I did quite well in Hauraki plains I got first and second in most of my races I was really pleased on how I did. I even did pretty good in my 1 length butterfly. These photos are from Hauraki Plains and the School swimming sports. After the school and Hauraki Plains it is Thames Valley, I got in for 2 lengths backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. I came first in the backstroke and breaststroke and an extremely close second in my freestyle race. I really enjoyed all of the swimming sports that I did and I am very proud of how I did. I am not sure if I have made it into Waikato... but I hope so!!!

Messi Sends Signed Shirt to Plastic Bag Shirt Boy

A five-year-old boy got a photo taken wearing a makeshift Lionel Messi  shirt made out of a plastic bag has finally received the real shirt and it was signed by Lionel Messi it also said that he loves him too. The boy says I love Messi and my shirt says Messi loves me. Earlier in February, the Afghan Football Federation told Al Jazeera that the boy would get a chance to meet his football hero but a date and venue had still not been confirmed. Speaking to Al Jazeera in a phone call earlier in February the boy said I love Messi and football. I will meet him one day. I think that this article was amazing, he made an makeshift Lionel Messi shirt and then he got the real one signed by him too I think that Lionel Messi is a great role model for other people.

Where do you fit and why ?  I think that I fit in level four because I help other people I don’t know for example I a man dropped some of his coins so I picked them up for him I also help mum and dad when needed. I have set myself a goal to become a level five before the end of the year, so that means to pick up rubbish when I see it even sports gear that has been left on the field (because Hitchie does NOT like it when there is sports gear on the field.)

What did you find most difficult? Why did you find it difficult and how can you prevent it from happening again? The most difficult was coming up with a plan that actually worked. I found It difficult because it was hard to make the frame stay up without using too many straws. How did you plan for the task? We planned to stick all the straws together to make a box frame and then make a top for it that sort of looked like a two layered jenga. Everyone agreed on the same idea so we did it. Did everyone share their ideas? We all agreed on the first plan, but yes everyone did. Did everyone have a role in the team? We all played a part in creating the tower like some of us cut the straws while some others stuck them together and made the jenga part.

Brylie & Gus, Leadership

Gus and Brylie are the head boy and head girl of Hauraki Plains College. They came into Marama to talk about leadership, these are four different types of leaders they talked about. The message that I thought they were trying to give to us was you don’t have to have all of these leadership qualities to be a great leader everyone is a great leader no matter what values that they have.

The Warrior is the person who fights for what they think is right and has persistence to keep going, not stopping until they get what they think is right.

The Profit is someone thinks about their actions before doing them, thinking carefully on what to do.

The Priest is someone who cares for everyone else, helps others without hesitation and puts everyone else before themselves.

The Merchant is someone who gives to others, its like how your parents give you food to eat, clean water to drink, a roof over your head and many other things.

“I Got You a Hamster!” Sister’s Love Brings Boy to Tears.

A little girl called Abby got $55 dollars worth of birthday money from friends and family. Guess what she spent it on? A hamster for her big brother because she thinks that he has been working very hard so he deserves a little gift. Her brother, Daniel cried tears of joy and hugged her for a very long time. The video has been shared more than one million times. In my opinion I think that this was an amazing act of kindness from a little girl that shows us that just the smallest things in life are worth it, it’s like doing a little favour for mum and dad or helping someone out. If a little girl can do it the whole world can too!!

Why have you chosen this song?

I chose Shake It Off Because you need to shake off all the things that people say that may be hurtful and also something might go wrong in your learning everyone makes mistakes but its all right because there will mostly be a way to fix the mistake. In the lyrics I have written she's dancing on her own so that means no one else wants to dance with her she is all on her own and people don't like her very much.

On the left there is my Smarts Test results. It is quite easy to see what my strengths are and what I am not quite good at. I have discovered that I am very Music Smart and not very Number smart so now I know what I need to work on. So now I think that I should include as much music and work with others lots in my school life as I possibly can and work in the collaborative spaces with others at a table. My strengths are Music, word, people and picture smart. I think that it wouldn't be very hard to include these smarts into my learning space. This test has completely changed what I will do through the year with my learning and where I work in the spaces that we have.

Cousins, Brothers, Parents, Grandparents, Auntie and Uncle how about a great way to start a holiday. I got to go to my absolute favourite place on earth Hahei. First week there 2 days rain. So do you know what we did PING PONG tournament. Nana and Dad had the showdown Dad won! He won the mini Ping Pong cup and two custard squares. Nana makes the BEST. Thick custard with a slice of chocolate on top. We also went sea biscuiting, suuuper fast. My cousin and I were up first. “ TOO FAST… AHHHHHHHHHHH”. My whole holiday combined BEST HOLIDAY EVER!
